The character

What Petitgrain actually smells like

Petitgrain comes from the same tree as neroli and bitter orange — Citrus aurantium — but instead of flower or fruit, it's the leaf and twig that get steam-distilled here. That different starting point gives it a character all its own: green, slightly bitter, and citrus-adjacent without ever tipping into sweetness.

It reads as clear-headed rather than bright, which is why it tends to land best in studies and morning routines — spaces built around starting something, not winding down from it.

A note on safety

For external aromatherapy use only — never taken internally. Use with care during pregnancy, ideally in a diffuser rather than on skin, and avoid entirely during the first trimester unless a qualified practitioner advises otherwise. Suitable for diffuser and inhalation use for adults and children 12 and over; for younger children, consult a healthcare professional first. Use with caution around pets, and never apply topically to an animal. Store below 30°C, away from direct sunlight and out of reach of children and pets.
